A VERY GOOD READ BUT ------- 18 YEARS??

This is the story of the Donovan sisters -- Kate, Rachel and Jessica. So I am starting in the middle of the series -- Sam McGuire, 37 refers to Kate, 37 as his wild mustang woman - because of her wary lack of trust of people. Kate has just gotten out of prison [she was the fall guy] where she served 18 months for a crime she was not guilty of. She wasn't the killer that the media and the FBI portrayed her. When she was 18 years old she took off and ran from her argumentative father's mental abuse. Leaving Sam, her one and only lover behind. Wouldn't you know Sam got drunk and got his ex-wife pregnant and had a son. This drove Kate even further away. Now she finds that her father, Kelly Donovan is dead and she has inherited the Donovan Ranch with a large herd of Herefords and about a hundred Arabian horses and a hundred thousand dollar debt that has to be paid off. Sam has notified Rachel and Jessica who head home from their homes and business to help Kate. Rachel was in London, teaching homeopath methods and Jessica was in western Canada where she had her own essences and home remedies as a business. We soon learn that both Sam and Kate still love each other but Sam knows better than to tell Kate who is mistrustful of others and almost emotionally dead. Sam must use his patience to bring Kate back emotionally. The Ranch and time and Sam's patience helps to heal Kate. Kate, of the black hair and sky blue eyes mourns the fact that she had not paid enough attention to her mother, Adula of the Cherokee tribe [I think]. Needing mention is the nasty neighbor, Old man Cunningham with his three sons, the nasty, spoiled Chet, older brother Bo and the one that got away, Jim [third story]. There are 5 houses on the property and showing up is Morgan Trayhern and his wife, Laura who had been involved in a traumatic kidnapping, and their guards, Major Mike Houston and Dr. Ann Parsons of Perseus, Morgan's mercenary outfit. Morgan was recovering from his recent imprisonment and coma. [Mike and Ann's story is in HEART OF THE JAGUAR] I can't forget the black Arabian stallion, Gan, mistreated and beaten by Kelly who will figure in the next Donovan sisters' story of Jessica and Dan Black. And great admiration for the little bay mare, Cinnamon, who jumped the cactus patch to get away from One Horn. Now Bolt, Sam's horse, sounds more like a quarter horse with thoroughbred blood instead of an Arabian. He had to plow through a Morgan tea patch with all of its spikes. One Horn must have been crazy. I hate it when it takes people soo long to finally resolve their differences but that is life, and as I say never try to outguess an author - I couldn't do any better in laying out the plot. But with all that kanoodling she better hurry up and get pregnant. Definitely worth reading - though I like more action, but hey reading is entertainment. Yes?
