A must read for every Wiccan

Again AJ Drew has stirred up much thought and discussion with his recent book Wicca For Couples. This books brings up many skeletons in the closet of Wicca and paganism as a whole. Also a very touching and heartfelt tribute to 12 year old Tempest Smith. Also many great ideas on where the pagan community should go from here. You don't have to be in a relationship to appreciate this book. Definitely for those who are thin skinned about their path and faint of heart.

A Breath of Fresh Air

I loved reading "Wicca for Couples". Drew addresses some sacred Wiccan cows with honesty and compassion. This book is at least as valuable for the questions it asks as for the answers it gives. I've been part of the Pagan community since 1972 and the Wiccan community since 1984. I've served on the National Board of Covenant of the Goddess for four terms spanning over a decade. The questions addressed in this book needed to be addressed and I thank Drew for having the guts to do it with such a great effort toward honesty, compassion and love."Wicca is not just a fashion statement!"Jim, AKA Worldwalker, HPOur Lady of the Prairie

A.J. Drew IS the 'Hermit'...

No this book isn't about tarot, but it is about shedding light on a few 'dirty little secrets' that apparently have been ignored by most of us, pagan or Abramic. And lest we forget it IS about the practice of Wicca in the context of a 'couple' as opposed to solitary or coven practice. This is one of those rare books that upon completion (and I read it twice, its impact on me was that profound!) makes one want to go out and buy 10 or 20 copies and give them to all your closest friends to read. From the dedication right through to the closing paragraph Mr. Drew's unique perspective and 'voice' are at the fore, holding nothing back. His publishers are to be commended on their bravery for not hamstringing Mr. Drew's work and allowing that 'voice' to come through on the printed page; Goddess knowns we don't need another 'Wicca 101' book! One thing to come out of this work is the fact that A.J.'s observations have ruffled a few feathers among those loyal to the Frost's and Raymond Buckland. I believe that their outcry and negative reviews of Mr. Drew's work are a very good indicator that A.J. has struck a nerve! Why else would there be such a vehement knee jerk reaction from those loyalists to the mass mailing that Mr. Buckland has sent out in response to 'Wicca For Couples'? Long review short, read this book, see what all the controversy is about and then form your own opinion. If you must read the Frost's work that Mr. Drew targets in 'Wicca For Couples' buy it used or borrow it, but don't contribute to their financial gain by buying it new as that book, in my opinion, is a vile, criminal work that should have had the authorities scrutinizing the Frost's since the time that they self published it.May you Blessed Be!

wonderful book. must have

this is an absolute must have. the book is very informative and honest. A.J. manages to bring a wonderful understanding to the belief. he also seems to have stirred up a few feeling with other authors. this book (along with his others) make the old books obsolete. i would reccommend Wicca for couples over any book by the Frosts, or even Mr. Buckland. A.J.'s book is not like the normal wiccan books out there. also it is nice to see a book that talks about other issues, not just spells and incantations. unlike other authors out there (not all), his book (along with others he wrote) are not "dry" they keep you wanting more.i am proud to have this book in my collection to refer to time and time again.simple review- get this book. it is a serious must have.

Sex returns to our fertility religion.

I was in tears after reading just the preface. I was outraged at authors I had previousely trusted after reading the second chapter. I was in tears again as I read the final words. As a Wiccan who has spent a fortune on books, I wish I had read this book before spending money on other books. What this author has to say would have caused me NOT to purchase many of the titles that I did previousely. The preface contains a heart felt apology to Tempest Smith, the 12 year old who took her life after turning to Wicca but not finding what she needed. In the second chapter, Drew explains how the stage for her death was set in 1971 when Wicca was first becoming of interest to the publishing industry. He pulls no punches, listing by name the homophobs...that now make big bucks from their books because no one remembers what they said before their publishers toned them down.I am not going to tell you what the final words are, because this book reads like a good novel. You have to read the beginning and middle or you just wont get the end. What I will tell you is that if you are even thinking about buying this book, do it now because I doubt it will be around long. I am absolutely sure this one is going to wind up in court because there are many who dont want us to know the truth about our history in general and the Witch Wars of 1971.Wicca will never be the same, thank the gods.
