The big pink Pearlyfish has a secret...
Who knew - that fish can change colour? Some, like the big pink Pearlyfish (based on the real life Cuckoo Wrasse) do so to survive. All Cuckoo Wrasse are born female and pink, but half will turn blue and male when mature - so the species continues. Others, like the make-believe 'Knotfish', can change colour at will - just like an octopus. Cephalopods (like the octopus) can even change skin pattern and texture to blend into their surroundings. Hiding from other hungry fish also helps survival
The fish in this story try to change colour, but with mixed results. This does not matter to the giant Podfish, the 'Purple-pimpled Podfish with the snaggly yellow teeth'. All fish, whatever their colour, taste good to him. Luckily for the other fish in this story, giant fish can be tasty to humans too...
