English Language Learners

This is a must have in classrooms with beginner English Language Learners (ELLs). They use it to learn the title question and memorize the rhyming answers. The illustrations are clear and are an interesting partial picture puzzle for school-age students. I find that in only one short lesson, beginner ELLs are able to apply the newly learned English to expressing themselves, practicing independently, and teaching younger siblings at home. A must have in classrooms with beginner ELLs.

The favorite in our house

My daughter just LOVED this book when she was 1-2. While I can't personally figure out what it has going for it, I do know that I read it aloud more times than any other book on the shelf. I had the regular hardcover -- this board book looks more likely to hold up to the demand my kids put on it.

Charming

None of your namby-pamby pastel illustrations in this book. The colors are incredibly vibrant, and the shapes are simple, better to appeal to babies. I also enjoyed the rhythm and rhyme of the language -- it lends itself to being read out loud.I want to make a quilt from this book, but most of all I want to read it to my kid.
