White's Crossing

When the Whites, a modest contemporary Anglo-American family, breakdown near the Mexican-American border in the middle of moving from Arizona to California, things quickly go from bad to worse. Members of the family are kidnapped by cartel bandits intent on holding them for ransom. Then, to win them back, husband and father, Meager White, is forced to choose between robbing a Mexican bank at the behest of the kidnappers or turning for help to estranged members of his extended adoptive family with whom he rarely speaks. Further complications ensue when Meager's kidnapped wife and young son escape their captors and runoff into the desert to attempt an illegal border crossing back into the US. And as the cartels close in from the south, a mysterious terrorist begins emplacing landmines along migration trails in the area, bringing special tactical units in from the north, trapping all in between in a potential war zone.
