Great mix of suspense and mystery short stories

The stories include (with my rating and short synposis): Missing by Dorothy Read (*****) - when a wife disappears from a food market the sheriff is sure the husband is behind it. The House Sitter by Sandra McGillivray Orties (****) - dishonest woman wrangles her way into people's home. The Trouble With Heinrich by Anne E. Gerike (****) - woman renting a house with a cat begins to think the cat is plotting against her. Deception Pass by Suzanne Fulle (**) - a missing girl's disappearance is blamed on a woman people think is a murderess. Celestial's Galaxy by Murray Anderson (**) - a strange girl befriends a slow boy. At the Home for Wayward Girls by Mariellen Houston Tissot (novel excerpt which I didn't read) Misconception by Gail Madden (****) - a woman is convinced her son, kidnapped years before, has been found. Chicken Killer by Murray Anderson (****) - an old man takes up residence in a home for seniors where people disappear at night. Standby by Nasus (***) a woman trolls airports looking for men in uniform to pick up. The Devil's Gator by Ann Adams (*****) - a woman driving cross country keeps seeing the same car and driver whenever she stops. Glen Eden by Rowena Williamson (*****) - ghosts seem to be haunting a bed and breakfast in the South. Seven Deadly Sins by Rowena Williamson (*****) - a vain, superior woman meets and tries to impress a talented artist. Cackle Corner by John Pendleton (***) - a house and its residents seems to appear and disappear. Hankerings by Nasus (****) dead hobos haunt a woman's house. I Always Promised You a Rose Garden by Kaye LaTorra Erickson (*****) - a stroke victim's prize roses are cared for by his wife The Dryer by Herb McDonald (*****)- an old woman thinks back on her second husband's paranoia BRIP by Herb McDonald (****) - a senile man thwarts a bank robber Oscar's Computer Glitch by Herb McDonald (****) - a man joins his writer's group for a last hurrah. Most of the tales are set on Whidbey Island, Washington, many in recognizible locations. And for those of us who live there, that was an added bonus. But many of these stories would be very enjoyable set anywhere; a few have really remarkable twists that might have you rereading parts of the story to see how you were mislead up until the very end.
