World war ll romance

Oh my God, what an Absolutely stunning Novel ! Beautifully written, but If you've read any of Sarah Sundin's books, you would expect it to be nothing less! A very Captivating story that hooks you right from the start...and doesn't let you go..right up to the last sentence. It's a story with insightfulness, Hope, Responsibility, and love. It takes place in Munich right before the war truly starts. Evelyn is an American Foreign News Correspondent, and she is in Germany writing articles and exposing the truth of what is going on in Germany under Hilters growing popularity and regime. She is compelled to report the truth to send back home to rouse the American people and make them aware of the every day life, that is changing constantly and the horrors that are happening to certain groups of individuals. Evelyn feels it is her obligation to help the people that are being oppressed and to speak the truths for them. But in reporting her stories, she must walk a straight line with the German government or she risks being expelled from the country ...or even worse, jailed or put to death. Peter Lang is also an American Graduate student who's working on his PhD in German language. When Peter arrived in Germany he was impressed with the prosperity and order of the German people. He left the states in chaos, hunger, no jobs, due to the Great Depression. But the longer he stays, he can see the climate changing for the worse, the brutality and the strength the Nazi's are showing everyday. Peter is well liked by many if not All of his students, who are very involved in Hitlers youth movement, they invite him to all the meetings and camps, and Peter is Privileged to all sorts of information of what the party is planning to do next and when. Evelyn and Peter are introduced by a mutual friend, and they hit it off and form a nice friendship. Peter is truly head over heels for Evelyn, but she keeps him at a distance ...close but not to close..even though she likes him enough to want to see more of him..she puts up a wall...not letting anyone pass..from previous bad relationships.Peter realize's this and let's the friendship develop at Evelyn's pace, and not rush things with her. Peter is very impressed with Evelyn's reporting and her truthfulness for what's right and what's wrong. Over much time Peter and Evelyn start to work together and Peter tells Evelyn what he learns from the meetings he attends...within the party, all the while leading the party to believe he is with Germany and their Crazy ideals. Together they work to get the truth back to the States, but also being careful, their very lives are at stake, and everyday, danger is just a few steps away. From being watched by the Gastpo, to Evelyn's Passport and papers being stolen, and then when she finds the lost passport it is forged, saying she is of Jewish origin, born in Germany, and a changed middle name, and changed name of her mother. Evelyn turns to Peter in desperation showing him what is happening to her, and Peter finds out their is an order out to Capture and detain Evelyn or kill her. You will go through nail biting escapes and near catches as they flee together running for their very lives ! Crazy Good! Nail biting, Can't put it Down Good ! Love this Author and her wonderful characters, descriptions, and story lines! Powerful and exciting! A Super Must Read !!! Especially to find out what happens between Peter and Evelyn, to the very end of the story !!!

WW2 Romance

When Twilight Breaks by Sarah Sundin is a stand-alone pre-World War 2 novel. Evelyn Brand, an American foreign correspondent, and Peter Lang, an American graduate student working on his PhD, meet in Munich in 1938. Evelyn sees thru the Nazi propaganda but she has to be very careful of what she writes or risk being expelled from the country. Peter is impressed with the order in Germany. When Peter finally sees things as they are, he and Evelyn team up, but with danger around every corner will they be able to expose the evil or be the next victims? Evelyn was such a likable character. Feminine, yet strong. Their romance developed slowly but solidly. The suspense was intense. It was as if you were watching a war-era movie. From the beginning to the end, you were drawn in and held on the edge of your seat, waiting for that other shoe to drop and the danger to increase. This was one of those stay-up-too-late-so-I-can-finish books. Another winner for Ms. Sundin.

Sarah Sundin’s best yet

"Yet true beauty comes from that one minor chord, the note that's sharp or flat. My father says those are the elements he has his orchestra stress - a little drawn out, a little more volume. Those are the elements that sink in your heart and pull on your emotions." I have loved every Sarah Sundin book I have read, but this newest novel totally knocks it out of the park. The captivating plot that flows beautifully, the meticulous research needed to build such a life-like 1938 Germany, and the deeply layered and complex characters are the author's trademarks. In this book, she goes above and beyond to infuse a heart-pounding suspense/intrigue and a delicious dose of humor. This book is a must-read for all historical fiction fans! Evelyn is an American journalist, banished to Munich for her unconventional ways and desperately trying to make it in a man's world. Peter is a visiting American grad student, developing his thesis and diction techniques at University of Munich in teaching German to Americans. Evelyn is dubbed "firebrand" for her prickly nature, fiercely independent streak, and propensity to work outside of the rules. Peter is a somewhat unlikely hero during this tumultuous time, as his professorial, black-and-white, neatly organized and orderly ways are completely opposite of Evelyn's. Their banter is witty and clever and extremely enjoyable. Peter's work in linguistics is fascinating and I loved his sweet tenderness, tireless pursuit of Evelyn, humility, and sense of justice and mercy. The unique perspective of a journalist on the ground and a teaching assistant in the ivory tower in Germany during the year leading up to the eruption of the war was enlightening. And the adrenaline rush with the suspense component of the story was totally unexpected but so fitting and well done. This is an unforgettable journey of two souls longing to have influence and to leave their mark in the world yet drawn to what truly matters. I received the book from the Revell/Baker Publishing Group via Interviews & Reviews and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.
