Following Niall and Chris: their 2nd year in Ireland
Published by DW , 16 days ago
This book picks up where "O Come Ye Back to Ireland" leaves off, and we are once again immersed into Niall and Chris's lives in County Clare, Ireland. And once again, I was enchanted. I feel a kinship with these people because the writing is honest, descriptive, and not at all judgmental. They share their experiences candidly, and I have come to consider them friends, though we have never met. I am probably around the same age as they are now, so I can almost see myself in the pages of these books. They chose a life that I would have liked to do, but I didn't due to my different goals at the time (during the 80s - 90s). They collaborated on these books, and I like how you get different details from each of them along with their individual points of view. You don't have to have visited Ireland to see what they see; the description does it for you in an easy way - not too much, but enough to paint a complete picture. I also like that Chris's artwork is used for the covers, and her simple drawings in the pages evoke emotions. Sweet!!! I recommend reading "O Come Ye Back to Ireland" first. I bought it first, and as soon as I finished it, I came back here to buy the next three books including: this one, "The Pipes are Calling: Our Jaunts Through Ireland", and "The Luck of the Irish: Our Life in County Clare. I am now officially a fan!
Bought the set

After a friend gave me the first book in this series, I liked it so well I bought the entire set. (Some are out of print). I found it well worth the effort to follow this engaging couple's adventures while living in Ireland.
