There are moments in life that change us forever. Some are filled with joy, others with sorrow, and a few are so extraordinary that they become impossible to forget.
More than sixty years ago, on the day my first son, Cory, was born, I experienced one of those moments. What began as an ordinary day filled with the anticipation of welcoming a new baby became a fight for life itself. As doctors struggled to save both of us, I found myself in a place I had never imagined-a place of overwhelming peace, brilliant light, and indescribable beauty.
For many years, I kept this experience to myself. I often wondered whether anyone would believe what I had seen and heard. It wasn't because I doubted what happened. I have never questioned it for a single day. Rather, I wanted my life to point people to Jesus Christ instead of drawing attention to myself.
The experience changed me forever. It removed my fear of death and gave me a deeper understanding of God's love, His faithfulness, and the reality of Heaven. Although no human words can fully describe its beauty, I have prayed that the Lord would help me share enough of what He allowed me to experience so that others might find hope, comfort, and a stronger faith in Him.
This book is not meant to answer every question about Heaven, nor is it intended to replace the truth of God's Word. The Bible remains our ultimate authority. My story is simply a personal testimony of what the Lord allowed me to experience during the moments when my earthly life came to an end and, by His grace, began again.
As you read these pages, I encourage you to keep an open heart and an open Bible. Compare everything you read with Scripture, and allow God to speak to you through His Word. My prayer is not that you remember my story, but that you come away with a greater confidence in God's promises, a deeper love for Jesus Christ, and a renewed hope in the eternal life He has prepared for those who trust in Him.
If my testimony encourages even one person to place their faith more fully in the Lord or to find peace in the midst of suffering, then sharing this deeply personal journey after all these years will have been worthwhile.
Thank you for taking this journey with me.
