In What You Hear Is Not What You See, author and professional caregiver Cassandra Fleet provides a variety of helpful techniques and tricks of the trade to anyone associated with the care of an... This description may be from another edition of this product.
For anyone who has dealt with the diseases of Alzheimer and Parkinson or dementia, this book will not only give you insight on the victims, but also on the perils of the second victims; family members and caregivers. Ms. Fleet shares her personal feelings and reservations as she performs the monumental task of caring for the client AND dealing with family members. At times one job seems as monumental as the other. She adamantly stresses that primary caregivers, should be allowed to do their job. Although the victims stop performing normal physical and mental actions, they are not dead, and with proper training caregivers can establish positive communication with most clients. This is a delicate subject, one too vital to be ignored, and Ms. Fleet does a good job of bringing it into focus. The book is done in the simplest form to allow persons of all ages to learn from it. I promise you will come away with a different and hopefully a better understanding of the victims and the toll the illnesses take. Reviewed by aNN of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers
