What Stays
Some things move faster than we mean them to - the years, the wanting, the certainty we thought we'd always have. What Stays is a collection of thirty poems written in a voice stripped down to feeling alone, tracing what time actually does to a life: what it takes, what it wears down, and what - against all odds - refuses to leave.
Moving through five sections - What Hurries, What Aches, What Wears, What Holds, and What Remains - this collection follows an arc from the urgency of youth through desire, aging, faith tested by disappointment, and finally toward a hard-won sense of home. There are no easy answers here, no borrowed metaphors to hide behind - just the raw, adult experience of wanting to be loved, wondering what survives disappointment, and learning, slowly, what's actually worth holding onto.
For readers of confessional, emotionally direct poetry - anyone who has ever asked what remains after everything else has been worn away.
