A collection of short stories that are based on true stories told by my granny and other friends and relatives who survived the second world war at home. Whilst the men were away fighting and often giving their lives to protect their families and homeland, those left at home faced different, but no less traumatic, sad but sometimes funny events back home. War is never a case of good versus evil, there are two sides to every conflict and I hope some of these stories also help those who did not experience them to understand that it was not easy being the ones left behind and that 'the enemy' were not always the blackguards they were portrayed to be.
