Clark Hilman, who has amnesia, lives in Oak Grove Haven, a group home for developmentally disabled men. Was he found wandering by a stream in eastern Oklahoma, as the director of the group home, tells him? When Hilman escapes to a ghost town, a flashback reveals a disturbing portion of his life. As Clark is unraveling the mysteries of his past, one of the men in the home dies and the director disappears. It's now up to Yuri Ivanov, the assistant director of the group home, to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Just when Yuri thinks he has everything under control, a local farmer is convinced that Clark is his long, lost nephew. In response to a letter from a lawyer,Clark goes to Virginia, where he expects to receive an inheritance of valuable land. Will this trip solve the mystery of his past, or is evil lurking in the mountains of southwestern Virginia?
