This Microsoft Mastering learning system provides practical, hands-on instruction for creating custom solutions and enterprise-level Web sites using the Microsoft Visual InterDev 6.0 development... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I found this book to be just what it's title says, how to develop a web application using Visual InterDev 6.0. This book takes you one step at a time developing a sample web application which uses an SQL server database and server side COM components. Along the way you learn how to use Visual InterDev, Active Server Pages, integrate VBScript into your web pages, connect to a server database using ADO, creating COM objects that access the server database, calling the COM components from an Active Server Page. Yes, this book uses Microsoft technologies as I would have expect since it is published by Microsoft Press. If you are going to use Microsoft's IIS as your web server than this book is an excellent one to learn overall web application development. Otherwise, this book is not for you.
Good for filling in the blanks

As an ASP developer that has moved from developing in notepad to Visual Interdev, this book helps answer some of the questions about the different toolbars. I believe the exercises and labs are well written and thought out. If you read this book without doing the labs you might as well be reading a Harry Potter book.
