We poets were once giants you know, keepers of legends and loreHansard to heroes, Counsel to Kings, the heartbeat of history and yoreThe rich tapestry you call culture, frayed and dulled by time's slow brumeWas kept alive by only us, working fervently at memory's loomHistory is now at our fingertips, and heroes can be seen in our homesOur counsel is called for no longer, and kings do not sit on thronesThe human heart is our lone bastion, and we are slowly losing that tooFor the ranks of poets have grown dense and dim, and our champions are now fewYoung recalls the high craft of poetry from days gone by, weaving contemporary tales into the heroic tradition.
