War and People is an action adventure novel. Its setting includes the Second Iraq War, the events leading up to the war, and the immediate post invasion phase of the war. It focuses on two families, one American and one Iraqi, whose lives become heavily involved in the war. Opening chapters include the childhood adventures of the children of these families, adventures which help develop their individual personalities, and also set the views that determine the nature of their later participation in the war. The mid portion of the book proceeds on into the invasion stage of the war, and features meetings, skirmishes, and battles involving members of both families. The story concludes with the early days and weeks following the fall of Baghdad, focusing now on the attempts of the characters to rebuild their lives.
