A town torn by it's past and it's present

The lives of a family in a smal Maine town are nearly torn apart by the sudden semi-fam of the eldest son, Carlisle, on being the best basketball player in town. A great book that inflicts a broad spectrum of emotions as Ruth Moore deftfully leads you through the downtrodden adventures of Carlisle, his younger brother, Ralph, there mother and her father, and the Jewish school teacher, Al Berg.
