The short-story, is one of the most important literary subgenres in Urdu literature, despite its relative youth. This was influenced by western and literary concepts and tendencies, as well as the contemporary industrial and mechanized environment. Understanding the symbols and metaphors of Ahmad Rasheed's stories requires subtlety, broad-mindedness, and a study of the universe. He has not used symbols unnecessarily or to enhance knowledge, nor has he shot arrows of metaphors in the dark, but has used appropriate and suitable symbols to create layers of art. This is why when the reader's eyes go to his stories and he tries unsuccessfully to unravel the knot of symbols and achieves some success, he is filled with joy.
