Volinette's Song: A Magic of Solendrea Novel

By Martin Hengst

She walked away from fame to become a mage. Surviving the Academy is another matter.

Volinette Terris has everything most girls would want: a famous family, money, and a future as a celebrated musician. At fourteen, she turns it all down to face the Trial of Admission and try for a place at the Academy of Arcane Arts and Sciences.

She wins her place. It turns out to be the easy part.

A candidate is dead, and whispers put the blame on Volinette. The most powerful family in the Academy wants her gone. Her classmates want her humiliated. And something dangerous is stirring beneath the Great Tower, tied to the theft of an artifact that could bring the Academy down around them.

Volinette has one loyal friend, a voice that hears the magic other mages can only command, and a single semester to prove she belongs, if she can live that long.

Volinette's Song is a standalone adventure in the Magic of Solendrea series. Dark fantasy for adult readers; it includes the deaths of young characters.
