I've had the pleasure of meeting Raja. He's a professor of philosophy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I sat in on one of his group discussions about the moral permissability and moral value of prostitution. This topic was chosen partly because it is a topic covered in his book. Halwani is a great thinker who writes with confidence, clarity, and a pure understanding of the concrete laws of logic and argumentation. Care ethics is a largely overlooked segment of ethical study, and we should be grateful that so talented a man has contributed to a very finite library or books on the subject. A reader with an interest in ethics (specifically about arguing for such controversial elements of care/virtue ethics as promiscuous sex, open relationships and sex work) should enjoy this publication. It's thorough and requires much reflection, but it is not meant to be quickly read like a novel.
