I totally enjoyed Vinland. I thought the love story between Leif and Thorgunna was very soft and touching and romantic. The dialogue was very good, but there were times that I wished I could have had more of it. I know there were many artists involved in doing the illustrations, but the contrasts were smooth and were not a problem for me. I do not hesitate to recommend this graphic novel- as a gift or for your own enjoyment.
Fun Read and Great Holiday Gift for Young Adults

I thoroughly enjoyed Vinland. It is a fun, well researched and very well crafted historical-based saga. I have read it twice and enjoyed it more the second time. This to me indicates a truly fine work of art when more is discovered and savored the second time one experiences it. The story brings to life a fascinating time in history replete with drama and energy that capture the spirit of that period. The reader can sense the harsh realities that motivated the adventurers of that day and drove them to take risks far beyond what we can imagine in today's comfortable world. Yet it also gives insight into the personal, human side of the protagonists. I am going to give a copy of Vinland to my 18 year old son,a high school senior who is somewhat of a "gamer", this holiday season. I think that he will not only thoroughly enjoy this edifying graphic novel but also learn something about history, life, and goal setting in the process.
The quickest fun read I ever experienced but with great life lessons.......

I enjoyed Vinland! I remembered hearing about Vikings having made it to America, but I didn't realize it was a proven fact. The lead character Leif Eriksson comes across as a real can-do guy but also as a free thinker. There is a libertarian element to the story which I really liked. And the art is unusually good for a graphic novel. There is a vividness to the book that really stands out. Vinland reads quickly- it took me about an hour and a half to read it. But it covers a lot of ground, and it's a very good read. 5 stars. Lino DiFelice
Epic Adventure and Eye-Opening History

Leif Eriksson and the surprisingly complex world of the ancient Vikings comes to vivid life in Ralph Cinque's graphic novel. It's hard to portray super-heroic characters and make them believable, but Cinque manages nicely. His Leif Eriksson is a man of passion and knowledge, humor and principle. It's fun seeing how young Leif learns the arts of swordfighting and sailing. But it's even more fun seeing how the adult Leif navigates between his countrymen's bloodthirsty warmongers on the one hand, and the officious pieties of "respectable" society on the other. No wonder Leif has to discover America...he was a free man before his time, and he needed a free country to match his outsized spirit. (Truth in advertising: I was an editorial advisor to Ralph Cinque on the writing of this story. But the vision and the theme are all his.)
A TIMELESS STORY WELL TOLD WITH GREAT ARTWORK.

Everyone knows about Columbus, but was Leif Ericksson the real Discover of America? This is a truly enjoyable Graphic Novel, a great read and you even learn a little history too. The author weaves a great Historical tale and the colorful artwork leads the reader from page to page. Written like a four act play the author tells and his artists show Leif Ericksson as a young boy developing his morals and character to a young man living it. It is a classic tale of good and evil and how even thousands of years ago men were faced with choices and how these choices with the resulting consequences are really not so different then what we still face today. It is really a story for all ages and all time and the author left me wanting more of this man. Hopefully this is just the first in a series of Graphic Novels about Leif Ericksson in the New World as this is a slice of American history which is still not to widely told in popular literature.
