After spending 1.5 years at the Hastings & Mpls Veterans homes, the author eventually left in order to escape the VA medical care system and firmly believes that countless military Veterans would still be alive had they not sought their medical care through the VA. One of the requirements for admission into any Veterans home is that all residents must agree to receive their care through the VA, and while the care received while at the Veterans home hadn't caused the author to leave, it was the punitive treatment and fraudulent medical record entries by VA medical employees that were at the heart of the problem. While finding civilian medical care to have been somewhat better than the VA, the designated welfare medical & dental clinics also left much to be desired. Throughout his journey, the author found himself continually being lied to, cheated & exploited at every turn by people who had supposedly been there to help him. \
