Alana of House Torvah is leading her people, the Verma, to find a valley promised to them in the holy Codex of Otar and Neva. The Verma are a race of mixed blood and they have many of the abilities of their ancestors, the elves. The normal humans fear and distrust the Verma. They are labeled thieves and whores, but battle even greater distrust amongst themselves. Alana and her Troop search for the promised valley where they can live without fear for their redheaded male children. Evils that took place ages ago in their original homeland across the Deep Sea still haunt them and Alana is determined to deliver her people along with a wagon carrying potted plants to the promised valley, where they can live the lives they choose and make their Verma wine.
