The kind of book you can sink your teeth into

I am writing this review based on my memory of the book. I read it back in 1990 when it was new. What I do remember about it was that it was excellent. I recall doing a book report on it for school that freaked my teacher out. This isn't your tipical run of the mill vampire hanging out in a coffin all day and going out at night to kill and drink blood kind of story. And from what I understand of the "modern day" vampire story (Twilight) goes, this is head and shoulders above it. I'd recomend it to fans of the vampire story line.

An undiscovered gem.

This book is destined to go down in the annals of writing as one of those guilty pleasure books. The strength of the book lies with its characters who hook you in and keep you till the end. After endless books attempting to duplicate Ann Rice's paint by numbers gothic style with little success it was a breath of fresh air to see the vampire story set in more of a realistic modern day approach. The most appealing thing about this book is how human it is. While this is not the book to impress your lit proffessor with, it is a great book which stands on its own merrits.
