(Reviewed by Erminie Freeman) "Throughout this book God is beautifully given the Glory that is due His Name. It is written in such a tender, intimate manner that the reader is easily caught up into the plot, the characters and events becoming real and personal. God's goodness is woven from beginning to end of the novel like a lovely tapestry. At times, an aura of mystique pervades the pages. At other times the individuals experience real pain, suffering and adversity. Music, laughter, devotion and trust are also an important part of their lives. The book strenghtened my faith. It is a tribute to God's mercy, power and love."
Up from the Grave

In this fiction-based-on-fact, Tim Moreland is a superb specimen with seemingly unlimited potential. His early life in a Christian home is happy, although tragedy strikes when he loses his dad in a traffic accident. But the family remains a strong unit through escalating crises and lingering suffering of a life filled with trials. He graduates from the Naval Academy and joins the Marines, who send him to the Persian Gulf in operation Desert Storm. When he returns, his family and friends perceive a change in him. In fact he has suffered neurological damage that makes his health spiral down. His family life disintegrates. His second son, conceived after his return, is diagnosed with severe autism. Then he loses his wife to cancer, and his whole world falls apart. His health has degenerated into a life-threatening situation. He cannot hold a job. He cannot take care of himself or the children. He gives them up to a home for the handicapped and finally subjects himself to treatments through the VA.Is it possible for him to return to health, up from this virtual grave, and some semblance of happiness? God is able. No one knows what the future will bring, but the prayers continue. God uses adversities to fashion shining jewels of his saints.
