A challenge to women to understand themselves and their rela

I have read this book twice. The first time round I threw it in the bin more than once, then picked it out again and continued reading. The book challenges the socially accepted concepts of what it is to be female in a way that whilst making so much sense deep down, causes the reader to re-evaluate their whole view of just who they are and who they want to be.Having just finished re-reading it, I found so much more in the text that I wondered if I had ever read it in the first place. Practically applying the concepts in this book, I have been better able to understand and, more importantly, change my interactions and relationships for the better.

A lighthearted and evocative call for femininty.

This book encourages the reader to look deep within and unveil the treasures that lie there. In a world that is so hung up on the form or material side of life, it provides a point of departure, to pause and listen, to question what the talkative mind tells us we should or must be. It helps us go beyond the social conditioning. For once there is quiet we all hear what our hearts are really telling us. This book brought tears to my eyes as it helped me explore the feminine side of my nature. I have another piece of the jigsaw now.Thank you Theun

A book thats a tool for life

In 'Unveil The Mysteries of the Female' the Toltec Nagal, Theun Mares discusses the nature of what it means to be female. By presenting the nine myths of the female, and by presenting a clear way forward I feel that Theun Mares has articulated a lot of deep instinctive feelings about gender that I have been trying to grasp and understand. I have always felt that men and women were equal but fundamentally different in their approach to themselves and the world in a way that goes beyond any gender based conditioning of cultural origin. I can understand how easy it is to mis-hear the message in this book, as a female my first response to the concept of following a male lead was to respond with a defensive attitude and say " I am not giving up my purpose and life for a man". Since then I have realised that I am not required to do so. My understanding of the teachings is that I choose to align myself with a male whose purpose I sense I can follow, because it is the same as my purpose. I like the sound of being a True Female and I return to this book again and again as a resource and for inspiration.

The proof of the pudding lies in the eating

In this book Mr. Mares addresses such concepts as coming to grips with potential, (literally meaning one's power or ability) the dual nature of the female, the Toltec definition of the Dreamer and much more. Terms such as male and female, technically speaking, relate to specific states of awareness, and depending on what an individual may need to learn in this lifetime the dreamer will incarnate one polarity of its awareness, the polarity most needed to take the next step forward for the individual knowing the totality of the self. Hence we approach life as either a man or a woman depending on which polarity we need to develop in this lifetime. Inherent within this fact and not so subtle, (yet it is amazing how many reviewers missed this)male and female are equal and both are necessary for intelligent co-operation in fulfilling our collective purpose, the evolution of awareness.Again, the terms male and female, technically speaking, refer to specific states of awareness, not the physical gender as such. So in this respect it should be noted that, according to this book, we on the physical plane, that is, life within manifestation, are ALL female in relation to the Spirit, irrespective of gender! Why? Because it is the Spirit that carries and secretes the purpose of life, yet for a purpose to come to creation it must be conceived, and it is this conception, coupled with the direction and purpose provided by the Spirit that makes us in manifested life, the Tonal, female in relation to the Spirit, the Nagal. For greater clarity and understanding of Tonal and Nagal, Male and Female, read this bookFinally, Theun Mares explicitly explains that this book is written for the non-serious student, and if one wishes for more detail and clarity then it is the three books in the formal teaching series that should be read. However, this book does go into concepts that are difficult to verbalize. One aphorism that is quite profound if properly put into application and that I feel should be noted here, is that:"Life is a feeling, not an intellectual exercise."

Truth can be difficult but it can set you free

This book, and its companion volume, The Quest for Maleness, contain surprises, in that they challenge our currently held opinions about what it means to be a female, and what it means to be a male. And yet, after the defensiveness one is left strenghtened and validated at the deepest level. This has been the reaction of the women with whom I have shared this book. People are longing for someone to speak out with a lucid voice and compassionate heart about how women and men differ, and how they can live and love together. The tragedy for women is that there are so few true males in the world today. Theun Mares provides the hope and the guidance to women on how to embrace their full gifts and true power as women. He also offers a vision of how women and men, equal yet different, are meant to work together for the upliftment of each other and the evolution of the human race. The affect on me of this book was to enhance the respect and love I already had for women. I have recommended this book to many women, who have sincerely thanked me upon reading the book.
