Sally Lancing needed to get a job, out-side of her being housekeeper for her brother Dave. She applied for and got a job as receptionist for Dr Stephen Vange. Only she fell in love with him, as he did with her. Only Blanche Carling stood in their way. Blanche was tired of living under her controlling mother Mrs Brandon's roof, so she decided to marry Dr Vange. She almost pulled it off, but an old flame Tim Wimborne shows up and puts a spoke in her plans. Blanche makes trouble for Sally by throwing a note away Sally had entrusted her with because of an emergency patient, Blanche decided the note wasn't as important as the party she and Dr Vange had been invited to. When she found it was very important, she claimed to never have seen the note. Stephen choose to believe Blanche and he fired Sally. Tim found out about the note and he played detective, he found the note that exonerated Sally. Stephen gave Sally back her job, but Blanche wasn't through with Sally, she felt if she waited she would be able to get rid of Sally for good. Blanche didn't get a chance to complete her plans, because her mother Mrs Brandon, caused Blanche's small son Girvan to run away. Mrs Brandon told Girvan his mother didn't love him anymore, and that he would be staying with her when his mother married.
