Scary Pleasures

This Buffy book has good action, decent plotting, and a steady pace. It has more of a focus on Willow and Zander, but has the rest of the scooby gang involved in the action. The loose ends of the plots seem well tied up, and the villians were scary, which is impressive for small creatures with wings.I give it two thumbs up.

One of the best books in the young adult series...

Willow isn't too happy with her new baby-sitting job. The strange noises she hears in the house are starting to scare her, but nothing could prepare her for being attacked by a creature that has taken the place of baby Tad. Only just managing to get away, Willow can't stop thinking about what happened and is haunted by images of the missing child. At the same time, Buffy has her hands full with the vampires of Sunnydale. When she and Giles discover some ancient artefacts at an archaeological site, it seems they may some how be connected to the missing children. But what is behind the disappearances and why will no one do anything about it? "Unnatural Selection" is a great addition to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series, although you don't have to be a fan of the TV programme to enjoy this book. This is probably one of the best young adult Buffy books around. The author manages to write convincingly about the characters and they all act as you expect them to. The plot was fast paced, enjoyable and kept me reading right up to the end. I recommend this book to fans of the series and any one who likes a mix of horror and fantasy.

Vampires, Changelings and fairies oh my!

Fantasy and horror collide in this Buffy novel. Willow is in the center of a growing evil. Babies are disappearing and no one seems to want to do anything about it. When the vampire population explodes the slayer has her hands full. When Willow is kidnapped to be used as a human scarifice the scoobies moblize to save her. Angel, Buffy and Oz make a good team. The action is exciting. I enjoyed the battle with the little people. They held their own.I believed Angel and Buffy could be mortally wounded by the fairies. The folklore was very interesting. One of the most moving moments is Angel's conversation with a grieving mother. I recommend this book. A reader does not need to be a fan to enjoy this excellent addition to Buffy fiction.

This was definitely the BEST BUFFY book written yet!

It was awesome! And not only because the main focus was on my favorite character, Willow. I liked the stuff having to do with faeries and the plot. I though it was kind of similar to the episodes of Buffy on TV "Becoming part 1" and "Becoming part 2" Because of the construction sites that unearthed the evil. But it was definitely the BEST! I started reading it, and by the 4th chapter I was hooked! I couldn't stop! I finished this book in a few hours, Definitely the best! I hope Mel Oden Will write more Buffy books!

Great Read.....

This has been one of the best young adult Buffy books ever. I think the author really captures the overall theme of the show. All of the characters sounded so much like as if it were a new episode on tv. And the plot was really creative. Very different. Although where the kidnapped babies were concerned, it did remind me a little of the episode "Band Candy". Only this book took a new turn and put faeries as the culprits and also took the time to explain the different kinds of faeries. Child of the Hunt also had faeries in it, but I felt through this book (Unnatural Selection),I had a much better understanding. I just didn't get the fact that Xander and Cordy were still together and Buffy and Angel weren't. It's like the events in "Lovers Walk" never happened with Xander and Cordy. But I totally recommend this book to anyone who's a really huge fan of the show. :)It really shines compared to the rest of the YA's in the series.
