Although higher education in Brazil has a recent history compared to other countries, the book addresses elements related to the origins of the university in Brazil, legal aspects and how demands for teaching have emerged throughout the development of the university's history in our country. In recent decades, the demand for higher education in Brazil has increased significantly, resulting in a growth in the number of institutions offering this level of education, with repercussions on the need to recruit new teachers and improve their qualifications to meet the challenges of teaching and learning in the complex scenario we live in.
