Understanding the Hybrid High School Experience: A Qualitative Study

Deciding the subject of my dissertation was easy. I had long been a technology geek, and was always disappointed that so many people assumed the growth of technology in education was a bad thing. I knew that my own daughter (pictured on the cover) was able to thrive in her chosen direction because she was given permission to use technology for her high school education. The things she learned about herself, how to manage time, and how to be successful proved to be common themes in interviews I conducted for this project. You might be surprised by how positively these young men and women view their experiences. Understand the experience of hybrid high school from the qualitative perspective of a small group of graduates. These students describe the barriers and benefits of a digital education before it became a world wide phenomenon. Conclusions from this study include the effect on community, effectiveness, engagement, and benefits of this experience.
