An Exciting Adventure into the Arcane!

If you are drawn to ancient teachings, the land of Egypt, or just a plain ol' great adventure, this book will draw you in, entertain and provoke a lot of thought along the way. The author obviously draws on her own experiences, study and research to convey a story that is esoterically rich. It is filled with well-drawn characters, sometimes larger than life and sometimes all too human, but always compelling. Having never been to Egypt, I was particularly impressed with Crater's ability to take me there, from the chaos of the Cairo market to the past life recollection of a Karnak that no longer exists. I could feel it and smell it and hear it, and UNDER THE STONE PAW only makes me want to go there more than ever. This knack of being able to truly transport the reader is a gift for which I have particular admiration. UNDER THE STONE PAW is an excellent read, and I found myself thinking it would make a terrific movie, to the point that I was actually casting it. Engaging, enjoyable and enlightening, I highly recommend this novel to anybody looking for a good read and an astral journey to amazing places!

More than a Novel

"Under The Stone Paw" is a rich, exciting novel about Egypt which I found hard to put down. Crater's protagonists are Anne Le Clair, a wealthy heiress from a royal bloodline, and Michael Levy, an attractive Jewish Egyptologist, member of a secret metaphysical group. When each finds that the other owns a mysterious ancient necklace, they become involved in a thrilling race to keep these artifacts out of the hands of a powerful society that wants to use the necklaces for nefarious purposes. While the story is engaging, one of the most fascinating parts of the novel is the ancient indigenous wisdom teachings which Crater weaves into the story. I would love to see this novel made into a movie.

One who's lived it...

I read "XX" review and couldn't DISAGREE MORE with it's intent towards simple mean behavior and I find it appalling and certainly not meaningful. Perhaps they missed the point! I sincerely wonder if it was even read by the reviewer or if it was written with a grudge with regard to the plot. I must confess I know Theresa and her husband. I had the good fortune of meeting the Sinclair descendants last year in Scotland as a result of their encouragement and introductions at Templar functions there where it all started at Sinclair Castle... I've known her husband Stephen Mehler for 30 years all the way back to the time we worked together in the Rosicrucian Fraternity where he worked in Research. I also know the work he's done with the indigenous culture of Egypt, after a half century of hard work... and I know that Theresa has shared in this same work for an unbelieveable number of years. To refer to Theresa in the manner that "XX" did is shameful and shows a lack of first hand knowledge. Theresa's novel is as much non-fiction as fiction as Theresa balances literary charm with first hand experience intelligently. As far as her literary skills are concerned, she is not only a Professor of English Literature, but Theresa has assisted in the editing of large volumes of research work involving ancient cultures and is particularly knowledgeable about the culture that lives and still carries the torch of Ancient Egypt (Khemit) there at the Gizeh plateau, and her art allows her to craft this plot with characters that are part of the living tradition... Truthfully it gives her license to carry the reader through her first hand experiences, since she writes it as one that has lived it to the best of her ability. To be honest those people she's written about are pleased with her work as well. Theresa's experience in these fields and the material she writes about give her free expression and a passion for ideas that are near and dear to many of us who have spent a lifetime in discovery; especially those of us who really have been associated with esoteric fraternities and mystical societies. Unlike most "writers" who write for the sake of writing, she knows what she's talking about. Unlike most popular writers who simply mimic research and make up as much as possible in a 6 week whirlwind tour, resulting in distorted facts that attempt to charm the reader with a fantasy, these lines are written by one who's lived them, been there and has first hand knowledge of the people of whom she writes into the characters of the story line. She's sat at their feet and really listened to them. Theresa's characters are not simply the fantasy images of story and plots that chase around the planet swiftly, but embrace as much truth that is stranger than fiction to carry the reader on to an adventure that is as real as it is fiction... This is one book I did not want to finish reading, only because when it ended I knew there would not be anymore. From the beginning and all the way through I felt as though I was experiencing each happening along with all of the characters. What is amazing is how Ms. Crater was able to infuse so much truth into a 'fiction' novel. I look forward to reading future novel's from Ms. Crater!

Magical Egypt

Having Been to Egypt I can appreciate how deftly Ms Crater captures the smells, the feel, the majesty and mystery of Egypt. She builds to a wonderful climax that is everything the reader desires. She introduces auxiliary characters we hope to get better acquainted with in future novels, the Mayan Priestess, the Nun from Tibet and the Indiginous Wisdom Keeper in Egypt. BRAVO!!! Bring on the next.
