Mysterious and Magical

This is an amazing book by Gillian Rubenstein! It is full of courage, danger, supernatural powers, and a drackle posing as the principal named Mr. Drake who will stop at nothing to seize the futures of all of the students in the school... and only a band of renegade students from the school can stop him! Jai, whose parents are being shipped to India under the crime of being illegal aliens; Hugo, who is also part of the crew; and Ceilia (aka Seal) who has the power to work the celestial control of the planets with the ring known as the Cat's Eye. It is imparative that they find the source of Drake's evil plan... or he will steal enough futures that he will become immortal, and the world wil be consumed with evil and indifference.

Very Impressive!!

Wow. Under the Cat's Eye is a book to read around other people, in bright daylight. The plot isn't very complicated, but is dazzlingly original and really, really scary. It is about a boy called Jai who goes to this boarding school, Nexhoath. He befriends two children, Seal and Hugo, who tell him their thoery about the creepy headmaster, Mr. Drake. (It's kind of hard to talk about this without giving away too much of the plot.) Meanwhile, mysterious changes are coming over the children at Nexhoath, and Jai finds out the truth about two workers at the school, Kitty and Roughly. Gillian Rubinstein gives all the characters believable quirks, like how Jai does math problems in his head to calm himself down when he is nervous or sad. It really helps you to relate to the characters. I am very impressed with Under the Cat's Eye! I would reccomend it to people aged nine to fourteen.

Under the Cat's Eye

I thought the book was superb. The author definatly knew how to conceal a mystery rolled up into an animal story, time travel, fantesy and a mistaken identity. The story is are so "unreal" though Rubinstein makes you believe every word. It sucked me into the book and I found myself looking at things a little diffrently. It completely changed my point of view. And now I find myself looking at things I can only hope to guess at. The twisted tale of fantsy and mystery is something the world has not and will not see in a long long time.

The one you cant put down

Onec in a while there is a story that you just cant put down. This is one of them. You end up saying, "just one more minute," about a dozen times and you will love every bit of this story. While his parents sort out some legal difficulties Jai goes off to boarding school. In boarding school there areplenty of odd people, starting with the principle. There is no oddity between the students, only outsid e of the school are there differences. When Jai goes to a different world things start to straighten themselves out.

A reader from Coventry Conn.

This is one of those books that you just can't put down, you want it to last forever. A boy named Jia is put into a boarding house called Nexhoath. When he gets there he finds that all of the other kids are mesmorized, with the exception of 5 people. He makes two friends and finds that the headmaster is a drackle (mythical creature). This story sends you into a mind boggling tale of warping worlds and winning over evil. You learn to hate Mr. Drake.I liked this novel because it keeps you on the edge of your seat and there is a new troublesome adventure on every other page. If you like Harry Potter this book will hold you over until another one comes out.
