the best cookbook

The best cookbook ever. It really earns its title. The recipes can be achieved easily and are delicious. They turn you from a cook into a chef. Each recipe comes with illustrated directions - even the photos are delicious. The cover is laminated so that it can be cleaned of ingredients after your successful dish. Great recipes for main dishes you can feel safe to cook for guests. Many of the dishes are familiar such as Cobb Salad - but always with a slight twist that easily takes the dish beyond what is expected. It even instructs you on how to boil an egg (illustrated of course), so that you can move on to Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon or Poached Eggs Florentine. I've bought this as a gift many times, always to expressions of gratitude. I highly recommend this instructional cookbook and hope they reprint.

A must have for the Kitchen!

One of the best cookbooks I have in the kitchen and I have a lot of them. Very good instructions from basic to advanced. Great section on fish, how to fillet, season, and cook. Great how-to pictures also. Wonderful recipes with ideas on how to tweak them. I wish I had this book 30 years ago.

Best cookbook for beginners!

I LOVE this book. I'm not a beginner, but I don't know more complicated stuff or even many cooking terms (braising? what's that?). This book assumes you know nothing and shows you clearly how to do all of its recipes. Wonderful step-by-step instructions, chock full of illustrations, great information, and a great variety of DELICIOUS food! Some recipes are easy and some are challenging, but the book helps you get it all done without a problem! This should be a mandatory gift for anyone about to go out into the world on his or her own. I'm SO disappointed it is out of print. Now I'm hunting all over the place to find copies to give as presents. This book is worth at least twice its weight in gold!

This book is one of the best cookbooks I have ever seen. Not only does it give you great instruction coupled with superb color pictures - this book provides you with explanations of basic cooking techniques (roasting, broiling, frying) and tools and how to use them. A must-have for anyone who likes to (or wants to learn how to) cook!
