Tying In Reverse (The Incomplete Series)

Hi. I'm Dale, and have been tying flies since 1980, including at commercial volume for ten years by producing about 3,000 dozen per year. Most were trout patterns, the majority dry flies, but along the way I learned and tied warm water, saltwater, salmon, full dress Atlantic salmon, traditional wet flies, and so on. The rigors of tying commercially provided effective skills that resulted in tying fast, durable, consistent patterns; along the way, even though I'm not convinced there's much new under the fly tying sun, I have made new-to-me discoveries to share.

One involves reverse tying techniques, which have become more useful personally because I've lost much use in my left hand. The plot here unfolded like a story as the technique became useful in new ways. Thinking about them - my old friend Mel Krieger said 'Casting begins with an idea, ' which transfers to so many other endeavors - I tied, took photographs and wrote descriptive explanations while applying the idea to various pattern types. Reverse winding materials is not new, but I've endeavored to expand its use.

This book is for late beginners who have tied enough flies to know their way around the vise, thread, scissors, selecting, handling and lashing materials to a hook, as well as for advanced tiers.
