Donna White is a survivor of the trauma of the homicides of her sister and her 4-ear-old niece, which happened 50+ years ago. She wrote the book to "start to heal my own trauma, my own broken heart. However, I quickly shifted to a higher purpose; I used the phrase 'dear reader' throughout my book to include, engage, and inspire the wider community of survivors of trauma, e.g., first-responders, veterans, mental health providers, law enforcement, immigrant families, etc. I wrote with empathy and compassion to help other survivors to begin to heal their hearts, find hope, and move from grief toward gratitude."Each of the first 36 chapters of Turning Our Tears into Dancing describes a "God Moment" that White has experienced. A God Moment is a special person, place, thing, or event that seems to come from out of the blue and takes on a deeper meaning. In addition, each chapter has sacred scripture, a what-was-I-meant-to learn-from-this? section, a Q&A section with write-on lines for the reader to reflect/respond, and a Pearls-of-Wisdom box. The last 10 chapters include tools and resources to continue the healing process.
