Great read

This is the first Leon Hale book I've read and it certainly won't be my last! You don't have to be from Texas to enjoy this book. It's about real people and written in such a way that you feel you've met them before. Love it.

Turn South at the Second Bridge

This is the first of Leon Hale's books that I have read although I have read his column in the Houston Chronicle for many years. He has a very easy writing style which makes for easy reading. The title of the book is what the book is all about. When you are off the beaten path, if you ask for directions, you may get this response or something else even more vague. He talks of people he has met over the years in his travels all over the State of Texas. I enjoyed this book very much and am in the process of finding all of the books he has written (10 I am told). Leon Hale, in my estimation, is one of the best writers. He writes the same as he speaks -- with a lot wit and of down-home sayings. Great reading!! A must for those who want to read something light, humorous and meaningful.
