Whether you're using Turbo Pascal or not, this is a great text on good programming practice.

If, (unlikely though it may be) you are learning to program in Turbo Pascal (version 3) today (2008), then this is an excellent text from which to learn. This book is broken into short, meaningful sections of (surprise, surprise) "tips", "tricks" and "traps". If, on the other hand, you are learning to program in any other language, sections of this book still provide valuable (not Pascal-specific) instruction regarding good programming practice. Topics such as skeleton programs, commenting, code formatting, meaningful variable and routine naming and sensible program decomposition are as relevant today to the smart programmer as they were when this book was written. This reviewer has programmed professionally for more years than he cares to remember, and as has watched many other programmers make their working lives much more difficult by not following smart programming practices. I strongly recommend "Turbo Pascal Tips, Tricks and Traps" as an excellent investment in one's programming career, regardless of whether one is actually programming in Pascal or in C, Java, MATLAB, etc.
