Tully's Heavy Shell

Written by Kara Granados

A little turtle. A very big heart. And a powerful lesson about knowing what isn't yours to carry.

Tully is the kindest little turtle in the forest. He loves helping his friends, cheering them up when they're sad, listening when they're worried, and making everyone feel better.

But one day, his friends begin giving him their troubles to carry. Bunny brings a rock filled with worry. Bird brings sadness. Fox brings frustration. Soon, Tully's shell is piled high with rocks representing everyone's feelings.

At first, Tully feels proud to help. But as the rocks grow heavier, his steps become slower, his smile begins to fade, and the little turtle who once loved sunshine and adventure becomes too tired to enjoy the world around him.

With the gentle wisdom of Grandpa Moss, Tully discovers an important truth: Having a kind heart doesn't mean carrying the weight of everyone else's problems.

Through beautiful illustrations, lovable woodland characters, and a touching story, Tully's Heavy Shell teaches young readers about empathy, emotional boundaries, self-worth, and the importance of caring for themselves while caring for others.

Perfect for children ages 4-8, this meaningful picture book encourages important conversations between parents, teachers, and children about feelings, friendship, kindness, and learning when it's okay to say no.

A heartwarming story with a lesson that stays with readers long after the final page:

You can love others, help others, and care deeply-without carrying every rock yourself.
