Since the day he left prison, Michael Carson sought a second chance. Helping troubled teens in a church youth group seemed a good place to start. Working alongside youth leader Maggie Simmons, Michael could see his new life before him--a life he hoped would include smart, pretty Maggie. But because of her painful past, she was wary of trusting anyone, least of all an ex-con. When circumstances beyond his control threatened to pull him away from Maggie and the kids, Michael prayed he could resist old temptations and keep God--and Maggie-- close to his heart.
It's been a long time since I read a debut novel that I loved as much as Trusting Him. With engaging characters, true to life dialogue and situations, and a faith thread that is realistic but not overdone, Ms. Minton has written a winner. I hope she writes lots more.
Beautiful Love Story

Michael Carson is fresh out of prison. He became a Christian while behind bars, and feels a calling to work with troubled teens in a church youth group. Pastor Banks befriended him while he was in prison and has offered to rent him a trailer. He's also offered Michael an opportunity to work in his church. Then Michael meets Maggie Simmons, youth director at the church, who has an unflattering opinion of the handsome ex-con. She believes he will just be there for a short time before going back to his comfortable, affluent lifestyle. Maggie's father walked away when he found her mother was pregnant. He never made any effort to stay in touch or be a father. Add the terrifying experience of a date gone wrong, and Maggie has trouble trusting men. All men, including Michael Carson. She wants to give Michael a chance, but that involves trust, and Maggie doesn't trust. Not even when he seems to connect with the kids in the youth group. In the meantime, Michael's former drug dealer won't leave him alone. Maggie and Michael are both Christians, but they will need a lot of faith to overcome the problems standing betweeen them and true love. Trusting Him is a moving story that will reach out and grab the reader's heart. The multifacated characters are well developed. The conflict is real, and the problems they face require more that just a band-aid solution. A deeply emotional story, Trusting Him is more than a romance, it's a beautiful love story with a strong faith message. Highly recommended.
