Interesting book

Love it

The 'Official Prep,' all grown up!

If you are like me, the 'Official Preppy Handbook' was your 'bible' to the Prep world. It came out my freshman year at Princeton, and I was, as a California girl, inducted into a world of all things Prep. Even now, I see how, as a multicultural WOC, my family, descended on my father's side from a WASP Pennsylvanian Quaker who built safe houses on the Underground Railroad, the Prep aesthetic permeates the core values of my family; my son is a fifth-generation college graduate (from UNC - Chapel Hill. How Prep is THAT?) Anyhow, I enjoyed the update. Most people agree that the Original was superbly funny (really, a hoot!); I thing that the all grown up version is still funny, but, perhaps, more reflective of a world gone by, while showing the more inclusive side of Prepdom, keeping in mind that there are some African-American preps that blow the lid off some average white folk (yes, you KNOW this is true; why, my father even drove his RV to Maine, and, yes of course, he went to the flagship L.L. Bean!) After all, this book reminds you that Prepdom is a state of mind!
