A charming romance.

Kim McKade always knew that someday she would be a published romance author. After all, she had married a man who would put any romance hero to shame. Finally, through sheer persistence and good ol' Texas determination, her dreams have come true as her debut novel, "A True-Blue Texas Twosome," hits bookstands everywhere this month as a part of Silhouette's March Madness Debut Author's series. McKade's novel, "A True-Blue Texas Twosome," is a heart-rendering romance set against the delightful setting of small-town life. After being shot by a zealous fan, TV news reporter Corrine Maxwell has returned to her hometown of Aloma, Texas, to recover from her wounds. She just wants to lead a quiet life while she regains her bearings. Thinking it will be a no-brainer job, she accepts a position as a substitute English teacher at her old high school. Corrine didn't plan on getting involved in her students' lives, no more than she planned on getting re-involved with her old sweetheart, Toby Haskell. Everyone expected Toby Haskell to pick up where he left off with Corrine, but ten years had passed and they were both changed people. He was now sheriff of their small hometown, and she had been a famous big-shot reporter. But the minute he laid eyes on her, Toby knew he still had it bad for Corrine. Now, he just had to convince her that she still belonged in Almoa; that she still belonged to him. Kim McKade weaves an intriguing thread of mystery through the romantic tapestry of "A True-Blue Texas Twosome." Having grown up in the small West Texas community of Roby, she also captures perfectly the wonderful warmth, simplicity and sense of community that comes from living in a small town. (I loved her noisy little old ladies who kept the gossip grapevine hot. They reminded me of my grandmother peering through her lace curtains to see what the neighbors were up to.) Obviously inspired by her own "true-blue" hero, McKade dedicates her first book: "for Darryl, for showing me what a hero should be." With this fine start in the world of big-league romance, and currently at work on her next novel, Kim McKade will be an author to keep your eye on.
