Ruby is spectacular!

She's the trivia queen, the 3rd grade supreme. So she enters a trivia contest.and wins it. I was exited when the princapal told her that she could be in the contest. She deserved it because she really is the trivia queen. I can't wait until the next Ruby book!

RUBY IS SO REAL!!!!

The author makes "Ruby" stay alive in book #2! The writer makes this character as if she is a real little girl. I can actually see Ruby in my head. The book had me reading it aloud and acting as if I were "Ruby" A children's novel hasn't move me like this in years! I felt as if I were an 8 years old again. Excited to read! Ruby rocks & I'm waiting to order the next book. This book should be on the top seller list for children. Teachers please order this book for your students. It's a must! Ruby is a true gem!

I am so glad that to find an interesting book with such a colorful character such as Ruby Booker. My daughter loves to read and is excited to add all of the Ruby books to her collection. The writing of Mr. Barnes will keep the reader turning the pages in full anticipation of the next interesting thing Ruby does. It is written at a level where elementary age students can read, understand, and enjoy. I am excited about the success of Ruby books. Thank you Derrick Barnes!

From one Trivia Queen to another...

I am always so pleased when the second in a series is a good as the first. I can definately say this about the second of the Ruby and the Booker Boys series by Derrick Barnes. Ruby is as still doing her own thing and shining in her own way in this great follow up. Ruby faces challenges and solves her problems with the help of her great family. These books are always funny and full of situations that all kids can relate to. Keep up the great work! I can't wait for book 3!

(RAWKidz Rating: 4.5) I'm Smart Too

In RUBY AND THE BOOKER BOYS: Trivia Queen, 3rd Grade Supreme, Ruby wants to make a name for herself at Hope Road Academy. Her older brothers are very popular for various reasons. Marcellus is multitalented, Tyner is very smart, and Roosevelt is the school prankster. Trying to find her special little niche is hard at Hope Road Academy. Her classmates know she can sing, but she wants them to know a little more. When she learns there is going to be a televised trivia contest on animals at the school, she is elated because she has been studying trivia for the last three years. The winner will receive season passes to the zoo for their entire grade level. But, the contest isn't open to third graders. As Ruby seeks to raise the consciousness of her teacher and the school's principle to get them to change the rules to include the third grade, she learns Marcellus and Tyner will be representing their own classes in the contest. Once the principle decides to allow her to participate, the contest becomes very serious at home, as well as at school. Which Booker will be the winner? Derrick Barnes captures the hearts and minds of young readers with the very colorful Ruby Marigold Booker in this second book of the Ruby and the Booker Boys series. Readers will be able to clearly see how Ruby handles conflict and challenges that are common for this age group. Barnes cleverly writes to entertain, as well as educate young people. The illustrations by Vanessa Brantley Newton portray the essence of the characters and continue to be a brilliant addition to this series. I am looking forward to reading future installments.
