Tonight, Changning Street was eerily devoid of cars. On the scorching reed mats, residents tossed and turned, lights off, fanning themselves with folding fans printed with men's health advertisements. The fan ribs, lacquered a deep black, unfolded to reveal images of swimsuit models alongside the words "Men's Hospital." The night was as silent as if it had been dipped into an inkwell, a thick, oppressive layer of purple-black clouds conjured from a chaotic blend of pigments-ochre, indigo, and cerulean. All that remained was to shoo away a fly that hadn't been released out the window. The air was so hot and humid it felt like a leopard creeping through a dew-dripping, dense forest, peering through the dark gaps between leaves, searching for a source of light. The weather forecast echoed repeatedly in his mind: Tomorrow, sunny to cloudy-tomorrow, sunny to cloudy. June. The incessant, damp croaking of frogs served as a constant undertone: the black keys of a piano. And the rumbling of cars. 长宁街今晚怎么也看不见汽车。炙热的草席上，居民来回翻动，灭了灯摇着印有男科广告的折扇。折扇扇骨是用竹木漆黑制作的，展开就是泳装模特和"男子医院"的字样。夜晚像是掉进了墨水缸般静谧无声，赭石靛青湖蓝，各种颜料被融混后，肆意制造着紫黑色的厚重云层。再则需要驱赶着一只没有被放生窗外的苍蝇，空气闷热潮湿得像是铜钱豹钻进垂滴露水的繁茂树林，从墨色的林叶缝隙间窥探着，试图寻找光源。天气播报在他的脑袋里反复回响着：明天晴到多云--明天晴到多云。六月，不间断响着濡湿的蛙鸣作为底噪存在：钢琴的黑键。还有隆隆汽车声。 Chen Jincheng, male, born in 1996, is a member of the China Writers Association and the China Prose Association. He began writing prose in high school, with works published in overseas editions of People's Daily and Sprouts magazines. He started writing fiction during university, with works featured in publications such as China Writers, Youth Literature, and Yuhua. He has published a collection titled My Friends and I.
