beautiful combination of theoretical and clinical materials

I find this book provide me with primary map for the unique issues in the treatment adventure with young population. The order of the writings follows the natural treatment processes: initiation, working alliance, (counter)transference, resistance, and finally termination. Especially, the Sarnoff?s profound writings about ?transference? and ?the use of fantasy, dreams and play? were quite informative and insight-provoking. Because of the theoretical depth of his writing, I think I need to revisit his chapters sooner or later. Following Sarnoff?s theoretical expertise, Ruttenberg?s chapter regarding interpretation provided me with the rich clinical materials. Through her honest share of her experiences, I could grab the sense of real therapeutic interactions with young clients. It is noteworthy that Ruttenberg?s easy-to-read writings styles were great enjoyment for me who read English as a secondary language. I became her fan. Prall?s chapter regarding countertransference had neat summary of the unique countertransfer issues in relation to the young clientele, as well as plentiful case examples. In retrospect, the combination of the conceptual and clinical writings seems the greatest strength of this book. You might find similar pleasure of mine from this book, and unearth values of your own from other chapters as well.
