Tradition from a Woman's Hands

This catalogue commemorates the many contributions of the decoy carvers featured in the Tradition from a Woman's Hands exhibit. The exhibit featured the work of notable contemporary carvers from New Jersey and beyond. Through their work they have created a community of carvers among themselves and connected to the larger community of those who carve, paint, collect, and love decoys. These female carvers are forever learning, adapting, growing, and trying new techniques and styles. This catalogue is by no means an exhaustive list of women carvers from New Jersey and the surrounding areas, but we hope it will become a resource that will continue to grow and evolve as more women carvers come "out of the woodwork."
