Love the book, hated the seller

I only ordered this physical copy because I wanted a mass paperback and I was sent a hardcover with a missing dust cover. These are still being listed under mass paperback, they’re not!

Chica, you will LOVE this book!!!!

I actually read this book a while ago, but forgot to put in my two cents... It was wonderful!! Dixon Wildhorse is right up there with Chase Jefferson as my favorite leading man in Beverly Jenkins books. Before this book, I didn't know that Black Seminoles existed. What a great way to educate us about them and tell a riveting story at the same time. Kate Love is headstrong and resistant in the beginning, but Dix slowly wins her over. I liked the fact that she is a reporter in the 1800's. Of course she had to sign some of her work as a man, but those were the times. My favorite scenes, "count for me chica" and "riding out the storm (in the tent and on their porch)". This book is tied directly to Always and Forever -- a move that only Ms. Jenkins could pull off and keep both plots moving and flowing. A must read for all Beverly Jenkins fans.

The Long Awaited "Topaz!"

Is Jenkins the best historical romance novelist of all times or what!! Well she is in my book. I loved Topaz. This novel was very rich in Black Seminole and African American history,"American History." The characters in this one are truly unforgettable. Dixon Wildhorse was a man after my own heart. I reall don't blame Kate Love for falling in love with Dix even though the circumstances would suggest her dislike for him. I loved the way their love developed for each other over time. Even more Jenkins once again created characters that will be remembered for a long time to come. It is one thing to have a great romance in a book, but when you add great history, great characters, and a great connection of all those things, the novel is truly in a class all by itself. That ladies and gentlemen, can also be said about the author of that great novel. Love you work, you, Beverly Jenkins, are truly in a class by yourself!!

So Good!

Well I first have to give a very special group on The Color of Love Forum my thanks for getting me started on the journey of reading Beverly Jenkins books. A special sorority sister of mine actually mailed her copy to me to read. Boy am I glad she thought enough of me to do just that, because Topaz was one great book that I truly enjoyed reading.I had not taken the leap into the historical romances but its something about the way Ms Jenkins uses her skill to tell these stories, you get pulled in like a magnet and cannot stop reading until you've finished.Well, Marshall Dixon, "Dix" Wildhorse is some kind of man who comes from a strong heritage of Black Seminoles winds us marrying Katherine, "Kate, Love. The relationship journeys through some ups and downs but has such a spark of some sizzling love scenes in the 1800's WOW! If I say more, I'll end up giving the story away and that is not allowed on this site. But just take my word folks, because this historical romance is not what you've been led to believe. It's more like the history of blacks during these times and Ms Jenkins is an excellent author in presenting this story about Dix and Kate. I strongly feel if she was our history teacher, she would make taking black history such an enjoyment that we would all earn passing grades.Well, I have been given my next Jenkins book to read and that's Vivid. Thank you Beverly Jenkins for an outstanding book, and I kept my promise I made to you in Dallas that I would start reading your books. What a joy it has been!

A Wildhorse and a "little safe robber"

This story was really facinating to me because it taught me some things I never knew about. For instance, Dixon Wildhorse being a lawman and Katherine Love being a journalist. I was so glad to find out that we held some of the most important jobs even back then. I know this story was fiction, but you know if Beverly Jenkins wrote it, it was very thoroughly researched. I'm sure it has some elements that are based on actual facts. I was really impressed with the way Beverly Jenkins brought this story to life. The story itself was great, but the romance between these two strong willed people was awesome. It was wonderful how Dixon took the time to court Katherine and got to know her before he made her his. I loved the way their relationship developed and they got to be friends as well as lovers. I love all of Beverly Jenkins books, but this one is one of my favorites. I've read it about 4-5 times, but then again, I've read all of Ms. Jenkins books a number of times. I can hardly wait for the next one to come out. Please hurry Beverly (smile).

excellent romance novel

This was the first book I read by Beverly Jenkins and I thought it was absolutely excellent. The characters of Catherine Love and Marshall Dixon Wildhorse are believable. Dixon is a very honorable and forceful, and soooo romantic. I couldn't stop reading until I finished it. I also read Night Song by the same author and really enjoyed it.
