I bought this book when it first came out in 1987. I had never heard of Penny Jordan and I was just a teenager starting to read Harlequin romance novels. I have never read such a romantic book in my life. Jake is the sexiest guy and I would love to meet him! Sara (if I remember correctly) has moved in with her brother who is in a wheelchair and is mourning the death of her fiancee. She is living like she died too and will not open herself up to others. She meets Jake in the garden early one morning dressed in her nightgown and they exchange a few caustic words, then he proceeds to kiss her and other things. She rips away from him, denying that she felt anything. She is constantly telling herself that she has to live for the memory of her dead fiancee. Jake becomes a part of her life because his sister likes her brother and they are forced together. He forces her to admit that she is attracted to him and the story goes on. The characters are always written in great detail and she really develops them. The secondary characters are also well-developed. I recommend ordering this book if you enjoy Penny Jordan. One of her best Harlequins!
