Tom Kettleman: The People's Turkey

Turkey Tom Kettleman was first seen at the intersection of Kettleman Lane and Lower Sacramento Road in Lodi, California during the spring of 2014. He quickly became a popular attraction, capturing the hearts and imaginations of many. On 09-28-14 a motorist struck and killed Tom. Author Donna Pacini-Christensen created this inspiring short story for children to benefit PALS HAVEN, a new animal shelter in Lodi, California. Wildlife artist Joe Garcia graciously consented to have his artwork included to enhance the story. In the story Tom Kettleman speaks to Alex, a seven-year-old boy. Tom urges Alex and other children to remind adults to put the brakes on their hectic lives and take time to read a book, to fish with a hook, to toss around a ball, to fly a kite, or to take a snooze.Also included are interest facts about turkeys, wild and domestic.
