Today's Mongolian Education: Pressing Social Problems and Solutions

The book is the author's doctoral (Sc.D) dissertation in Sociology of Education. This work aims to analyze the current state of Mongolian Education, identify social problems, and determine ways to address them.
The study compared the current issues in Mongolian Education with those of leading developed countries, using assessments provided by UNESCO and PISA, which assessed the abilities of 15-year-old students in the 2022- 2023 school year. It has been determined that the four signs of an educational crisis identified by F.G. Coombs, former director of UNESCO's International Institute for Educational Planning, and many others are evident in today's Mongolian education system. According to the PISA-2022 assessment, it is 2 years behind its peers in other OECD countries in mathematics and 5 years behind in science and reading. Rural students are also 2 years behind urban students. The results of the study show that Mongolian current education is in crisis.
The government is focused on overcoming this backwardness in education, reforming education laws, and repeatedly updating state education policies, but implementation remains poor.
