Fabulous Biography About A Wonderful Children's Author

In the year 1899, Elwyn Brooks White, known as En to family members, and E.B. White to fans, was born. Young En adored writing from a very early age, when he first used his older brothers typewriter to spell out his name. However, it wasn't until 1911, when En was 12-years-old, and the only child left in the house - seeing as how his older brothers and sisters had all grown-up and moved out - that En truly figured out that writing was for him. After getting several short stories published in magazines, En headed off to college where he worked hard on the college newspaper, and found his English teachers to be a great inspiration to him. Over the years he found many wonderful jobs in the writing industry, and he kept those even after he began writing books for young readers, such as CHARLOTTE'S WEB and STUART LITTLE. This is his story. E.B. White has been one of my favorite authors since I was five-years-old, when I got his collection of children's stories, which consisted of CHARLOTTE'S WEB, STUART LITTLE, and THE TRUMPET OF THE SWAN. Over the years I have read each of those books numerous times, so I was ecstatic to have the chance to read more about the author in this wonderful biography by David R. Collins. Collins' effort brings E.B. White to life, and will give fans of his a more in-depth look at the fabulous author. A must-read book for all who enjoy the tales that E.B. White crafted over the years. The author of Charlotte's Web is a fascinating man.

Charlotte's Web has always been my favorite book. I have read it about ten times. It has lessons in living for any ages. There is life, death, love, hate -- all the emotions people experience. E. B. White captured all this in his writing. His life story would interest anyone!
